From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Planners groups.
Viewers can expect finding out which players will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
